WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is the name of a healing energy. The words are Japanese – Rei meaning universal, spirit, divine and the Ki meaning life force. So we are describing the energy which is our life force and that which animates all around us. When we use Reiki, we concentrate this life force energy through our hands. We are able to use Reiki on ourselves, on others, on animals and even on our plants and food.Through the use of Reiki, we move towards wholeness in our lives in body, mind and spirit and help others to do likewise.

WHAT IS LINEAGE?
Reiki was brought to us by the work and inspiration of one man, Dr Mikao Usui who spent many years seeking the ability to heal. At the end of his life he passed the spiritual ‘flame’ of Reiki to the person whom he felt would best care for this precious gift, Dr Chijiro Hayashi. Dr Hayashi, when his life’s work was done, passed the responsibility for caring for Reiki to Mrs Hawayo Takata, a Japanese Hawaiian lady who brought Reiki to the West in the 1930s. At the end of her life Mrs Takata acknowledged her granddaughter Phyllis Lei Furumoto as the next Lineage Bearer. And so we have what we call the Reiki Lineage as acknowledged by the Usui System of Natural Healing.

LEARNING REIKI
Reiki is very simple to learn. I teach a First Degree class in four three hour sessions usually on consecutive days, passing on the ability to use Reiki through four initiations to the energy. After the class you should treat yourself on a daily basis and you will be able to offer treatments to your friends and family. It is said that Reiki itself teaches you what you need to know.
